Idea

Mark a stretch of text in the Notes editor, then cut, copy and paste it, inside a note and from one note to another.

Why

The first editor inserts and deletes at the cursor only (F1, Q145). Moving a paragraph means retyping it.

What's known

  • The keyboard has Shift, Ctrl and Fn; in Text Entry the arrows need Fn to move (they type ; . , / otherwise), so a selection would be Fn+Shift+arrows, three keys at once, or a mark set with one key and extended by moving.
  • A text clipboard kept in memory between notes costs what it holds; it should be bounded.
  • Other Apps have text worth taking: a line of an IRC Buffer, an address in Gemini. A clipboard shared between Apps is a bigger question.

Questions

  1. Selection by holding Shift, or by setting a mark?
  2. The keys for cut, copy and paste: Ctrl+X, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V?
  3. One clipboard for the Notes App, or one for the whole firmware?
  4. Whole-line shortcuts (cut this line, duplicate it) as a cheaper first step?
