Storage: select several items at once #41

Idea

In the Storage App, mark several files and folders, then copy, move or delete them together.

Why

The first version works on one item at a time (F1, Q131). Clearing out a folder of old Tracks or Captures one by one is tedious; Storage Clean-up only works by category and age.

What's known

  • The listing holds up to 256 entries in memory, packed (Q136): a mark is one bit per entry.
  • The clipboard holds one path today; with several it becomes a list, which costs memory, or a set of marks in one folder, which doesn't.
  • Copy and delete already run as jobs with progress and cancel (Q133): a batch is the same job over more items.
  • The confirmation must say what's about to happen: how many items, how many files inside the folders.

Questions

  1. How is an item marked: Space, or a key held with the arrows?
  2. Marks within one folder only, or kept while browsing?
  3. Mark all, and mark by pattern (*.pcap)?
  4. What happens to the rest of a batch when one item fails?
